Suffer the Little Children is The true crime podcast giving voices back to the victims of child abuse and shining a harsh spotlight on the parents and guardians who silenced them.
On April 2 of this year, Breanna Micciolo dropped off her six-year-old son, Corey, at his father’s house in Barnegat, New Jersey for their scheduled visitation. She expected to pick him up that afternoon, but instead, she got a phone call from Corey’s father saying they were headed to the hospital. By the time Breanna figured out what was happening, the police were on her doorstep with the worst news any mother could ever receive: her precious little first-grader was dead.

Since Corey’s death, Breanna has received no information from the police, the medical examiner, or the prosecutor’s office regarding what happened to her son, and to date, no arrests have been made. This is a story of the failure of child protective services to do the one thing they’re tasked with doing. It’s also the story of a family court’s failure to believe a mother trying her very hardest to protect her child from abuse.

In this episode, you’ll also hear my conversation with Corey’s heartbroken mom, Breanna, who wants not only justice for her son but also protection for other children in situations like his.

This is the gut-wrenching story of Corey Micciolo.
