Return to Play! Can't Stop Us Now - James Keddington, Jesse Kochel, Eric Richards

Author: Shawn Stringham August 27, 2020 Duration: 1:05:18

Water polo shut down across the nation in March 2020 and since then, there has been no water polo in Utah.  The fall league kicks off water polo play again at the end of August in Utah, and in the United States for that matter.  Listen to the first part of the podcast as Shawn reviews the changes and policies and procedures that will allow us to stay in the pool during COVID.

The second part of the podcast explores the ups and downs of water polo growth with three great Utah coaches and club directors.  James Keddington with South Davis Water Polo, Jesse Kochel with Southern Utah Water Polo and Eric Richards with Cache Valley Water Polo, represent water polo from the northern border to the southern border of Utah.  Shawn explores how they got their start, how COVID has affected their teams, some awesome tips to continue to grow club membership and of course, they add their selections to the Salty Splash Pod Playlist.

Let's play some water polo!

Dive into the deep end of community sports with the Salty Splash Water Polo Podcast, hosted by Shawn Stringham. This isn't just about professional leagues or Olympic highlights; it's a grounded conversation about building the sport from the pool deck up. Each episode brings together the voices that shape the game-dedicated athletes, committed parents, club organizers, referees making the tough calls, and coaches who mentor the next generation. We explore the real, often overlooked challenges and opportunities in fostering water polo at the local level. The aim is straightforward: to have honest, constructive discussions that move beyond just identifying problems. By talking with a wide range of stakeholders, this podcast seeks practical ideas and actionable strategies. How do we get more kids excited about jumping into the pool for their first game? What does it take to create development pathways that are both competitive and nurturing for young talent? Tune in for these collaborative conversations, where the shared goal is a stronger, more vibrant future for the sport. If you're involved in or simply passionate about water polo's grassroots growth, you'll find a place in this ongoing dialogue.
