17) How to Reclaim Your Health and Restore the Land w/ the Strong Sistas

Author: Brian Sanders & Chris Kruger February 12, 2021 Duration: 59:37

We sat down with Dr. Ashley and Sarah Armstrong, the Strong Sistas, to talk about their health journey and their most recent venture into regenerative agriculture. Their health journey has taken them from a predominantly plant-based diet to one that is based around animal foods. In the process, they've healed from eating disorders and autoimmune conditions.

Ashley received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Illinois and Sarah received her bachelors in Health Sciences & post grad studies in Integrative Nutrition. Recently, they've decided to drop their career plans, move out to a farm, and become first generation, regenerative, female farmers. Their mission is to improve human health and the health of the planet by changing the way food is grown & raised.

We cover:

  • What's going on in their life right now?
  • Their health journey
  • Nutrient Dense Foods
  • Modern foods are nutrient depleted
  • The relationship between your health and soil health
  • An individualized approach to nutrition
  • Nose to tail eating
  • Ray Peat inspired nutrition & stress
  • Regenerative agriculture

Their dialogue moves beyond generic advice, digging into the interconnected layers of what it truly means to thrive. This means examining not just physical health, but the mental and spiritual components that are so often overlooked. The framework for these discussions is built on ancestral principles-ideas that suggest our modern lives have strayed from the patterns that keep us well. Each episode of this podcast feels like a practical workshop. You’ll hear specific, actionable strategies for improving diet, managing weight, and addressing the root causes of chronic disease.
