Author: Life Management Science Labs November 4, 2022 Duration: 1:22:48
A lot of us don't spend enough time on our emotions as adults, let alone as toddlers. But our emotional development can be affected by how we interacted with the world, and how it interacts with us, at a very early age. A lack of self-awareness often leads to bigger problems with mental health and addiction. So how far back do we have to go to understand ourselves? On this episode of Self-improvement Atlas: The Personal Science Insights Podcast, host Aditi Kutty is joined by Lavinia Popescu Nau, or Lavinia, a psychologist, specializing in positive psychology and emotional intelligence. She is a positive-minded psychologist with a strong commitment to taking and communicating decisions with confidence and credibility. She is known for developing therapy programs and modalities for restoring or improving severe mental health disorders using a positive attitude and reinforcements. She's worked in mental health around the world, including in Spain and the United Kingdom, and she did her dissertation in Romania. She is currently a Resident Advisor in the Mental and Behavioural Health unit at Franciscan Health, Dyer, Indiana, United States. Lavinia took a Master’s Degree at Lewis College of Letters and Science at Illinois Institute of Technology to expand her knowledge in Mental Health and to achieve her goal of making a positive impact in our society. She carries numerous certifications and training including Identifying Early Signs of Psychosis in Adolescents and Young Adults from Stanford University and Psychological First Aid from John Hopkins University. Her specialties lie in bringing up emotions and mental health management. Lavinia chats with Aditi on how important it is to be more emotionally aware, and how to encourage our children to be the same through movies, board games and the ways we interact with them based on our relationships with them. They also discuss practicing gratitude and yoga and how they benefit our emotional development.
