A Thought from The Mesh

A Thought from The Mesh

Author: Bijibilla Rama Rao August 4, 2026 Duration: 8:51

The phrase generally draws its meaning from Timothy Morton’s ecological concept of “The Mesh,” which describes the infinite, interconnected network of all living and non-living things.

“They consider me to have sharp and penetrating vision because I see them through the mesh of a sieve.” — Khalil Gibron

“To me there is nothing more soothing than the song of mosquito that can’t get through the mesh to bite you.” — Madison Smartt Bell

“He who always thinks himself as weak will never become strong, but he who knows himself to be a lion, rushes out from the worlds meshes, as a lion from its cage.” — Swami Vivekananda

I have come to realize that the biggest problem anywhere in the world is that people’s perceptions of reality are compulsively filtered through the screening mesh of what they want, and do not want, to be true.” — Travis Walton

As a net is made up of a series of ties, so everything in this world is connected by a series of ties. If anyone thinks that the mesh of a net is an independent, isolated thing, he is mistaken. It is called a net because it is made up of a series of interconnected meshes, and each mesh has its place and responsibility in relation to other meshes.” — Gautama Buddha

Within this philosophy, it represents an ecological awareness — recognizing that human thoughts and actions are not isolated, but are deeply entangled with the rest of the world.

Key Meanings and Concepts

Radical Interconnectedness: The Mesh suggests there is no clear boundary between a subject (the thinker) and the object (the world). Every thought is shaped by, and has consequences for, the surrounding ecosystem.

Decentered Thinking: Unlike a tree (which implies a clear, linear hierarchy or origin), the Mesh has no center or edge. A thought from the mesh is a perspective that respects the equal importance of all parts of the system rather than elevating humans above nature.

Embracing Complexity: It acknowledges that we are constantly influenced by the web of life (including microscopic bacteria, historical events, and global environments). This leads to a profound sense of responsibility for how our ideas and actions reverberate through the system.

Hope is a great word to get inspiration and aspiration to lead forward and empowers us to teach many lessons in difficult times. It keeps on throwing light to show the path and encourages to find the ways and means in real life. Nature looks beautiful. It is God given gift to us and prepare well to acknolwedge the results based on the effort we put and gain the benefits to the best of our ability gives more strength. As a result, we learn and improve on our own to protect the skills acquired and exhibit them where required then plan well and perform better and the best in this process. A lamp is the best example to protect from darkness and keeps on shining the surroundings by throwing away the innocence and creates awareness to rise up and get up to do our normal duties in reality. It flourishes the facts and figures to workout what is truth and what is fact makes an impact on us and others as well. The stars shine bright to set an example. The moon looks beautiful in sky and tells us to be high with a small hope and aspiration gives tons of energy to shine bright, get more strength, by preparing ourselves through practice keeps on shining. We should grow like a tree which gives shade to others without any expectation. When we do not expect from others unconditional love grows within us. It gives pleasure and satisfaction. We should always pray God to give more strength to help others. Our prayers will form in the shape of blessings and flow one by one as drops from the sky like drizzling and helps the needy through contribution keeps to fulfill their needs and requirements.
