#145 - Middle O'The Summer

There's a raw, unfiltered energy to New York hip-hop that often gets lost when the focus shifts to charts and boardrooms. Shakiem's NYC Hip-Hop is a direct response to that, a space carved out by Shakiem for anyone who feels that genuine artistry is being drowned out. This podcast stems from a very real frustration with the homogenized sound of corporate rap and the often lackluster quality of heavily promoted music. Each episode is a deep dive into the beats, lyrics, and culture that define the city's authentic sound, serving as both a critique of the mainstream and a celebration of what hip-hop can be. You'll hear passionate commentary, discover under-the-radar artists, and get a perspective that prioritizes substance over commercial hype. It's a personal project, so the conversation is direct and the opinions are firmly held. Engage with the show by leaving comments and connecting with Shakiem directly. For a genuine take on the music, away from the industry filter, this is where you need to be.
