Falling Into Place

Falling Into Place

You're walking in a grocery store. It's crowded. As you push your way through the heaving mass of human bodies you accidentally bump into a shelf. What transpires next amazes you. The first item to fall from the safety of its shelf is a martini glass. You brace for the glass to shatter. And yet it never comes. The glass sits comfortably on the ground via its sturdy base. "Those odds must be one in a million" you think to yourself. And yet it's not over. The shelf, still rocking back and forth from the impact knocks over a bottle of vermouth. The top cracks just slightly, and you see a lone drop fall directly into the glass. "Amazing" you think. And yet the event isn't yet over. Another victim to the movement, a bottle of gin. This one's top fully breaks open and gin starts flowing freely directly over... a pile of ice? Where did that even come from? Who stores a loose pile of ice on a shelf? Moreover, that newly ice cold gin drips squarely into the sitting glass. "This is impossible" you think, as a nearby crow drops a single olive pitted olive skewered on a toothpick into your fresh delicious martini.

Deep beneath our feet, in a geothermal lab where the rock is hot and the standards are low, three eternally confined scientists conduct their audacious auditory experiments. This is Shitty Mashups. Each episode is a gleeful report from their subterranean studio, where the mission is simple: to fuse songs that were never meant to meet, crafting what might generously be called the worst music ever conceived. The results are unpredictable, often hilarious, and strangely compelling. You'll hear legendary pop anthems violently welded to forgotten elevator jingles, aggressive metal riffs underpinning smooth jazz solos, and nursery rhymes subjected to unthinkable electronic beats. The hosts, operating as the podcast's cursed creators, provide a running commentary of scientific despair and manic pride as their creations unfold. It's a celebration of glorious failure and a bizarre love letter to music itself, asking the important question: how wrong can a song feel before it becomes a new kind of right? Tune in for a uniquely chaotic and comedic listen that defies all conventional taste.
