124: Batman Returns!

Author: Randy Andrews October 8, 2021 Duration: 1:46:45
The second episode of SOUNDTRACK ALLEY here on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO is a discussion between Myself and Erik Woods about the film and score to the 1992 Tim Burton film, BATMAN RETURNS, which was a sequel of the smash-hit BATMAN released in 1989. In the film, Batman must prevent the Penguin from killing all of Gotham City’s firstborn sons, while dealing with Catwoman, who seeks vengeance against Max Shreck, a corrupt tycoon who seeks to bring Gotham City under his control. The original score for the film was composed by Danny Elfman, conducted by Jonathan Sheffer and performed by The Hollywood Symphony Orchestra. The expanded release of the score was produced by La La Land Records. We hope you enjoy the discussion, and the music Cinematic Sound Radio Fanfare and Theme by David Coscina | Soundtrack Alley Theme by Alexander Schiebel | Bumper voice artist: Tim Burden

Randy Andrews invites you into a thoughtful space where film scores and musical themes are the main event. Titled Soundtrack Alley, this podcast digs into the compositions that shape our favorite movies, exploring how a few notes can evoke entire worlds of emotion and memory. Each episode feels like a casual, in-depth conversation, whether Randy is dissecting a classic score's hidden motifs or sharing his own reflections on a composer's latest work. The dialogue often extends to interviews with people from across the music industry, offering listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process. These aren't just dry analyses; they're passionate explorations for anyone who has ever stayed through the credits just to hear the music play. You'll find a welcoming mix of commentary and discovery here, moving beyond simple reviews to understand why certain melodies stick with us long after the screen fades to black. This is a show for curious ears, celebrating the unsung narratives told through orchestral swells, minimalist piano pieces, and everything in between. So, if you've ever been moved by a film's soundtrack, this podcast offers a dedicated lane to wander down and appreciate the artistry. New projects and musical tangents pop up along the way, keeping the journey through Soundtrack Alley fresh and full of surprises.
