Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (Weston Translation Version 2)-The Gawain Poet

The stories we grow up with shape how we see the world, and in South African Folk-Tales, James A. Honeÿ shares the narratives that have shaped a nation. This isn't a dry historical account, but a living collection where each tale is a doorway. You'll hear the ancient, trickster-filled wisdom of the San and Khoekhoe peoples, alongside powerful stories from the Bantu traditions that have traveled through generations. Honeÿ acts as a gentle guide, drawing not only from published anthologies but from personal childhood memories and direct translations from Afrikaans sources, offering a rare and intimate auditory experience. The result is a podcast that feels both expansive and personal, connecting the mythic past to the present. It’s a resource for families seeking meaningful stories, for anyone curious about the depth of South African cultural history, and for listeners who simply love a well-told tale. The rhythm of the telling, the distinct characters, and the underlying morals all come through in each episode, making this more than just a recitation. It's an invitation to sit and listen, to imagine the landscapes where these stories were born, and to understand a little more about the people who carried them. You can find this podcast easily, and when you listen, you’re participating in the age-old tradition of oral history, one carefully shared folk-tale at a time.
