Welcome aboard Flight 95 of the Squawk Ident podcast - Correcting Nicely. On today’s flight I have the honor in speaking with an aviator that is starting his transition to retirement in the airline industry. He is a retired USAF Lt. Colonel with flight experience in T38s, B52s, and the B1b. His airline career started in 1999 flying B737s, and currently he finds himself on the A320 family of aircraft at “Legacy Airlines”. Captain David Ortiz joins us to discuss his journey in aviation, his transition towards retirement, and he shares a few fantastic stories along the way.

All this and more onboard Flight 95 of the Squawk Ident podcast.

Ever wondered what it actually takes to build a life in the skies? Squawk Ident-an Aviation Podcast pulls back the curtain on the aviation profession, moving beyond the glamour to the real conversations happening in cockpits and crew rooms. Hosted by Av8rTony alongside a seasoned panel including Captain Roger, Captain Rob, Alex, and Terry, each episode feels like joining a candid hangar chat. But this isn't just a procedural guide; it's a collection of lived experiences. The heart of the podcast lies in the stories shared, those moments of triumph, humility, and sometimes sheer unpredictability that every aviator accumulates.
