Will you use navigation when you are driving? Although we use navigation, we still get lost occasionally, since the map and the actual road conditions differ. This is also the opportunity for Cheng Ping Yu, the founder of AR navigation startup Phiar, to initiate his entrepreneurship. By combining deep learning with AI and AR technology, AR navigation provides the actual road conditions for drivers and guides the direction at the same time.

Phiar was selected as YC's 2018 Summer Batch (YC S18), and has also received major venture capital’s investment in the following years. Google even announced the acquisition of Phiar in September 2022, hoping to create a new generation of navigation systems through computer vision, AI and AR.

Highlights:
Augmented reality for navigation
The inspiration of Phiar’s product came from Yu’s own experience
Transformation from academia to business
Key point that makes technology business applicable
Yu’s experience in YC
Big trends for self-driving, automotive and AR
Incredible innovation speed for AI and AR
