#289: The Best Performing Stock in the S&P 500

The Magnificent Seven get all the love and attention, but it turns out 2025 is the year of hard drives. Western Digital (WDC) and its recent spinoff, Sandisk, are the best-performing stocks on the S&P 500.

After boosting nuclear energy, GPUs, and big data companies, the AI demand wave has now hit the digital storage space. For Western Digital, that translates to 51% year-over-year revenue growth and earnings per share (EPS) up 137%. Not bad for a company founded in 1970.

If hard drives don’t pique your interest, we also check in on the worst-performing stock of the year: Fiserv. Its unraveling includes dubious financial metrics, questionable leadership, and an unfortunate reliance on the Argentinian market. Tune in to hear all the juicy details.
