Dalla prima volta in cui ha cercato il suo aiuto nella seconda metà degli anni 50, l’Argentina ha firmato più di 20 accordi con il Fondo Monetario Internazionale, e dichiarato numerose volte il default.  Poi nel 2015 un faro di speranza, quando il leader Mauricio Macri vince le elezioni mettendo fine a decenni di governi populisti.   I festeggiamenti però non durano a lungo. Prima una fuga di capitale, poi le elezioni, e infine la pandemia.
