Part of what made the acting feel so real was the genuine fear of the actors and extras filming scenes in massive water tanks, with entire sections of the ship tilting and throwing them into the water. Talk about dedication to realism!

It’s stories like this that fascinate me. I’ve always been drawn to how movies are made—the triumphs, the disasters, and all the creative problem-solving that goes on behind the scenes. Reading books and memoirs about how classic movies were filmed has taught me so much about storytelling. And when you find out what went wrong with some of the biggest blockbusters, it gives you a whole new perspective on why some of them ultimately work and others flop.

Recently, I discovered a podcast that scratches that exact itch. It’s called What Went Wrong and it’s hosted by Chris and Lizzie, a dynamic duo with great humor and tons of research skills.
