The Long Paddle 2021 – with Brendon Prince

Author: Simon Hutchinson February 1, 2021 Duration: 53:34

** Brendon has now completed his journey - check out his YouTube channel The Long Paddle 2021 or listen here to his second interview with all the details of his incredible journey**

Brendon Prince is a pretty impressive guy who has taken on the challenge of being the first to complete the circumnavigation of mainland Britain by paddleboard, and is in serious training for the kick off of his journey in April 2021

A long time open-water swimmer, paddler and adventure sportsman , Brendon's had extreme experiences across the world, but it was a situation he encountered on a UK beach, as a surf lifeguard, which led to a life changing decision to quit his career as a teacher and start a charity

'Above Water' was set up to reduce drowning using education and the charity has taught skills and knowledge to hundreds of schoolchildren and members of the public since its formation

Brendon is paddling to spread the word about water safety and in this episode he shares his passion for water education alongside his preparation for what is his most extreme adventure yet!

In this episode we also discuss the inspiration and advice he's received from the awesome duo, Jordan Wylie and Ross Edgley (who swam the entire 1780 mile distance around the mainland coast of Britain back in 2018)

Brendon is looking to head out once he's identified a big enough weather window in April, and will take all opportunities to engage with schools and the public as he goes

Find out the latest about Brendon on his official site where you can donate and find out more about the charity and the activities he's getting up to on his journey
