Author: Echo News July 31, 2024 Duration: 1:19:56

In this week's episode, Steve and Von sit down with Mathew Kilkelly - President of Samford Rangers Football Club, local dad, football fanatic and coach who plays a pivotal role in the local community.

Mathew has been in and around football for most of his life, including being a member of Samford Rangers FC since 2011 and is a lifelong Liverpool supporter. He currently plays for the Rangers Over 45’s Old Boys team and coaches his sons Under 12’s team. He joined the Committee in 2020 as the Club Secretary and was the Club Registrar prior to this. His focus is on supporting the Clubs strategic direction ensuring it can continue to sustainably grow and offer an inclusive and fun environment for its members and visitors.

Samford Rangers FC has been a cornerstone of the Samford Valley community since 1973, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels. The club is not only known for its competitive spirit on the field but also for its strong community focus and positive impact off the field.

In this episode we discuss a serious issue that has recently affected the club - copper theft from their facilities. This disturbing trend has caused significant disruptions, not only for Samford Rangers but for several other local sports clubs as well. We'll hear from Matthew about how the club is handling this challenge and what steps are being taken to prevent future incidents.

In addition, we'll dive into the broader role of Samford Rangers FC in the community, exploring their mission, programs, and the positive influence they have on their members. So, without further ado, let's welcome Matthew Kilkelly to Talk of the Town.
