Tonight on the show we were joined by Stine Helkjær Engen and Silvia Ceriani.Stine is a bandoneonista from Denmark who has been living and playing in Buenos Aires for over 10 years. She shared her wonderful music and played a very inspiring live piece for us as well. She is involved in numerous creative projects and it was a pleasure to sit and chat and get to know her.Silvia Ceriani also called in from Buenos Aires. Dancer, teacher, DJ, and historian she shared a lot of knowledge about a period of time she refers to as, "when tango went into a cave."We listened to music from lesser known but amazing orchestra's from the 50's and 60's and learned about them and the time period when they were playing. She also told us about what was happening in the dance community as well as in the music community during that time.It was a very fun and interesting show!! Thank you all for listening, calling and being a part of this while we are all apart. We will continue to bring you great shows to keep us connected socially as we learn and talk about Tango as it has so many layers. Tango Cafe takeout is a donation based show. In Tango Uncorked, host Hoopengardner sits down with the vibrant, unexpected characters who live and breathe Argentine Tango. This isn't a tutorial on steps, but a series of conversations that uncovers the unique rhythm of a life intertwined with the dance. You'll hear from the expected-professional dancers and revered teachers-but the real magic happens when the spotlight shifts. The podcast features the donut maker who finds poetry in the late-night milonga, the engineer who analyzes the geometry of an embrace, and the countless quietly obsessed individuals for whom tango is less a hobby and more a vital language. Each episode is an intimate portrait, exploring how this passionate art form reshapes identities, forges communities, and spills over into every corner of a person's world. Through these personal stories, Tango Uncorked reveals the rich, human tapestry behind the music and movement, offering listeners a front-row seat to the laughter, frustration, philosophy, and sheer joy that fuels this global culture. It's a celebration of the diverse voices that, together, create the soul of the tango world.
