Unapologetically himself, opinionated, creative, and fiercely talented, its difficult not to love Kirk Jenkins...Albeit, at times, his raw authenticity can feel overwhelming, and sometimes even uncomfortable. For me, however, spending time with Kirk seems to highlight my own personal insecurities and the self-protection mechanism that I've built over years of social-conditioning and conformity.
As we approach another year of uncertainty, as we witness our civil liberties continue to erode, it's no coincidence that this episode with Kirk is the first one for 2022. The term "free spirit" gets thrown around a lot these days, so my use of it in this instance is well considered.
Kirk is a "free sprit".
How you exactly define "free", I'll leave that for you to decide, but I see a freedom in Kirk that I don't see in others. I'm not talking about an inconsiderate anarchist, radical, extremist type. I'm talking about a person who is kind, empathetic, law abiding and allows a sincere vulnerability to express them self openly, without fear of judgement or ridicule, without guilt, shame or remorse.
Repeat after me, "I am free".
