Good morning. Alaska. I'm Aaron Jolly. That crisp air you're feeling this morning? That's high pressure parked overhead, locking in some serious cold. We're looking at clear skies across much of the state. but Southeast Alaska tells a completely different story. In the next 24 hours. Let's start in Southcentral. Overnight lows bottomed out at minus 10. You'll climb to 10 degrees this afternoon under sunny skies. Tonight drops back to minus 9. and tomorrow looks nearly identical with a high of 9 degrees. Head north to the Interior and it's a different world. We're talking minus 38 this morning. Some valley locations are seeing temperatures in the minus 40s and even minus 50s. You'll recover to minus 8 by mid-afternoon. Patchy freezing fog could develop before 3 P.M. Tonight? Back down to minus 30, with wind chills approaching minus 38 degrees. Now Southeast Alaska. That's where the action is. An arctic boundary draped over the panhandle is combining with Gulf moisture to bring snow. We're seeing snow overnight with a 78 percent chance peaking around 3 A.M. Expect 1 to 3 inches tonight, then another 4 to 8 inches Tuesday into Tuesday night. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Monday night through Tuesday for the Juneau area and Glacier Bay. Here's your five-day outlook. Cold and dry for Southcentral and the Interior through Wednesday. A slight warming trend begins midweek. By Thursday into Friday, a system brings a chance of snow to Southcentral. Southeast stays active all week with multiple rounds of precipitation. Temperatures there gradually warm, with rain mixing in by Thursday. We're gaining nearly 6 minutes of daylight today. Spring equinox is about 18 days away. Hang in there. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
