Children of Mars.

Throughout its long and storied history, Star Trek has tended to focus on the lives and adventures of Starfleet officers. Civilians have rarely been seen. Star Trek: Picard is set to change that with the return of The Next Generation's famous captain, now retired from Starfleet. Jean-Luc will once again play an important role in the late 24th century, but this time as a civilian.

In this episode of The Line, hosts Brandon-Shea Mutala, Justin Oser, and Chrissie De Clerck-Szilagyi discuss "Children of Mars," the sixth episode of the second season of Star Trek: Short Treks. We discuss how this story serves as a lead-in to Star Trek: Picard, the very important role that music plays in this short, the difficult topic of bullying, Kima and Lil's journey from conflict to understanding, who the rogue synths may be, and our predictions for what we will see in the first episode the highly anticipated series.
