Maps and Legends.

Romulans first appeared just eight episodes into Star Trek's existence. That story, "Balance of Terror," aired on December 15, 1966, and delivered an Original Series statement on racism and honor. It also established one of the Federation's oldest enemies. More than 22 years later, on May 8, 1989, another enemy—the Borg—made its first appearance in the second-season Next Generation episode "Q Who." Now, some 31 years after that, the two have come together to form the central plot of Star Trek: Picard.

In this episode of The Line, hosts Brandon-Shea Mutala, Justin Oser, and Chrissie De Clerck-Szilagyi discuss the second episode of Star Trek: Picard "Maps and Legends," as we explore Romulan culture and the Artifact—a derelict Borg cube that has been severed from the Collective and turned into a Romulan reclamation facility. We also talk about the attack on Mars, Picard's tense meeting with Admiral Clancy, the relationship between Narek and Soji, just what Commodore Oh is up to, and our predictions for upcoming episodes.
