God fights for us: From Addiction to New Life in Christ

In this episode of the Abundant Life Podcast, Ben and Sasso sit down with Michael to hear a powerful testimony of addiction, despair, redemption, and new life in Christ.

Michael shares openly about nearly 15 years of drug addiction and more than 20 attempts at treatment. After reaching a point where he believed he could no longer live the way he was living, God began directing his steps toward help. Michael recounts the people God placed along his path, his journey back to Arizona, entering treatment, and ultimately becoming free from his desire for drugs. His sobriety date is December 14, 2020.

The conversation centers on Exodus 14:14: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Michael explains how he now sees God's hand throughout his story, including moments when he believes God protected him from death.

The episode also explores the parable of the lost sheep in Luke 15 and the difference between knowing about the Bible and truly knowing Jesus. Michael describes how God transformed his life and gave him a new purpose, including opportunities to serve others through his businesses and sober-living ministry.
