Class Action Litigation

Class Action Litigation

Author: Punit Bhatia | Data Privacy, Sourcing & EU AI Act Specialist | ISO Standards November 13, 2025 Duration: 7:04

What really happens when you decide to pursue a class action case?

In this conversation, Punit and John explore a common concern whether companies use pressure tactics to make plaintiffs withdraw. The answer is reassuring: such tactics are not typical in structured litigation processes, especially when experienced legal teams are involved.

You’ll learn how class representatives are carefully selected and prepared for the journey ahead. Litigation can take time, and plaintiffs may need to provide information, answer questions, or participate in depositions, but the commitment is often manageable and well-guided by legal experts.

We also explain why class actions matter. These cases can be extremely expensive to run, often involving significant expert costs. Without the class action model, many individuals simply wouldn’t be able to pursue justice on their own.

Importantly, privacy is protected throughout the process. Any personal information shared during litigation is handled under strict confidentiality through protective orders, ensuring it is not publicly disclosed. We look at the outcomes. Beyond financial compensation, class actions can lead to meaningful change such as improved security practices, better data protection measures, and long-term safeguards like identity monitoring services.

Class action litigation is not just about compensation; it’s about accountability, protection, and strengthening trust in how organizations handle data.
