Evolution Of Disco Documentary EP2 - Rise Of The DJ

The Evolution Of Disco (2/4)Scorned by the Mafias mistreatment of the gay bars, spurred on by the Stonewall uprising & its legacy, members & allies of the LGBTQ+ community begin to open up their own venues. In the decade that followed 1969 a new scene, a new sound would emerge, that would provide sanctuary, escape & space for celebration in the spite of the world outside. This episode we step foot in some of those seminal venues, take a look at their music & pay homage to their figureheads. Expect raw Soul, Proto-Disco & even a Funky bit of Rock & Roll. Sources-DocumentariesPump Up The VolumeDisco: Soundtrack Of A RevolutionHitsville The Making Of MotownSummer Of SoulQuincyThe Black GodfatherThe Death & Life Of Marshal P JohnsonThe Vietnam War - Ken BurnsThe Loft “Come As You Are”Fear City - Newyork Vs The MafiaRubble KingsWhy The US Government Murdered Fred HamptonBlack Panthers - Vanguard Of The Revolution Disco: Soundtrack Of A RevolutionFilms From The Era Taxi DriverWarriorsBlacKKKlansmanForrest GumpJudas & The Black MessiahBooksLast Night A DJ Saved My LifeTurn The Beat Around
