Sanctification, again, is a thing that will always be seen.

Sanctification, again, is a thing that will always be seen.

Author: Russell Herman, Jonathan van Hoogen, Ryan Hemphill, Vinnie Hanke February 18, 2026 Duration: 14:30

Like the Great Head of the Church, from whom it springs, it “cannot be hid.” “Every tree is known by his own fruit.” (Luke 6:44.) A truly sanctified person may be so clothed with humility, that he can see in himself nothing but infirmity and defects. Like Moses, when he came down from the Mount, he may not be conscious that his face shines. Like the righteous, in the mighty parable of the sheep and the goats, he may not see that he has done anything worthy of his Master’s notice and commendation: “When saw we Thee an hungered, and fed Thee?” (Matt. 25:37.) But whether he sees it himself or not, others will always see in him a tone, and taste, and character, and habit of life unlike that of other men. The very idea of a man being “sanctified,” while no holiness can be seen in his life, is flat nonsense and a misuse of words. Light may be very dim; but if there is only a spark in a dark room, it will be seen. Life may be very feeble; but if the pulse only beats a little, it will be felt. It is just the same with a sanctified man: his sanctification will be something felt and seen, though he himself may not understand it. A “saint” in whom nothing can be seen but worldliness or sin, is a kind of monster not recognized in the Bible!

Each weekday morning, four pastors from Idaho's Treasure Valley gather for a conversation that feels more like a thoughtful coffee chat than a formal sermon. Their The Gospel for Life podcast operates from a simple, profound premise: the core message of Christianity isn't meant to be compartmentalized into a weekly service, but to actively shape every decision, relationship, and challenge we face. You'll hear these hosts explore how ancient wisdom speaks directly to modern complexities-from navigating workplace ethics and family dynamics to engaging with culture, philosophy, and societal questions. The dialogue is grounded, practical, and refreshingly free from religious jargon, making it accessible whether you're deeply rooted in faith or simply curious. This isn't about adding more religious duty to your life; it's about discovering a framework that brings coherence to all of it. Tune in for daily episodes that consistently argue you never graduate from needing this perspective, released every weekday at 8 am Mountain Standard Time. It's a steady, insightful companion for anyone considering how foundational beliefs might inform a meaningful, integrated life.
