Yes. It is that time of the year when DJ Moose listens to every song that was preformed in a national Eurovision Song Contest final. There are many countries that run competitions to pick their submissions to Eurovision, unlike the lazy TV execs in the UK, France and elsewhere that pick submissions (I imagine lots of old white dudes with nicotine fingers, in light grey suit, in a nondescript grey boardroom, picking boring crap that they decide to submit to the song contest… and to be frank most of the time, their picks are shit).
However the other countries who run contests open it up to so many interesting and unique artists… and many more who are to DJ Moose’s musical tastes. In the Baltics alone there were 79 artists who tried out in the national selections. Seventy-nine from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia! Okay most were not to DJ Moose’s taste, but as the playlist for this episode will show, 11 were. In fact, DJ Moose’s initial selection was 85 tracks that he thought were interesting.
DJ Moose pared that initial list down and hopes you will enjoy listening to what he has picked for you in this episode (plus the others played in yesterday’s TWIT).
The Eurovision Song Contest semi-finals are on May 13 and 15, with the final on May 17.
