On this episode of The I in Us Paul and Cody celebrated International Intersex Day of Solidarity and Remembrance (Nov 8) by interviewing Kimberly Zieselman. Kimberly is a USA-based intersex lawyer, author, human rights advocate, and media production consultant.
Kimberly has served as Senior Advisor to U.S. Special Envoy for the Advancement of Human Rights for LGBTQI+ Persons at the US State Department. She was the Executive Director of the Premier intersex policy organization in the U.S, InterACT. Kimberly is currently the Senior Advisor on Global Intersex Rights at Outright International This organisation is dedicated to working with partners around the globe to strengthen the capacity of the LGBTIQ human rights movement, document and amplify human rights violations against LGBTIQ people, and advocate for inclusion and equality.
In March 2020 Kimberly published her memoir, charting her intersex discovery and her journey to self-acceptance, and more recently joined global intersex activists, including Australia’s Dr Morgan Carpenter, to deliver a powerful intervention to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, calling for stronger allyship from movements, including those working on children’s rights.
We are sure you are going to enjoy hearing from this powerhouse in intersex advocacy. So, if you enjoy what you hear, please share it with others – because the more people we reach, the more lives we change.
ENJOY!
