This week on The Labia Lounge I had the pleasure of chatting with Kate who runs Virtue and Vice, an events company that've splashed onto the scene in recent times running play parties with a fresh take on the existing scene here in Melbourne.
I went to my first ever play party run by Virtue and Vice recently and released a full episode where I talked about my experience in depth, and then, low and behold, Kate got in touch from the V & V and offered to come on for a yarn with me to give an even more intimate insight into what goes into this sort of event.
We discuss the gaps in the market that they identified and why they wanted to start running SOP (segz on premises) parties for the Melbs play party community but do it differently with an emphasis on consent culture, inclusivity and hygiene practices.
We chat about the trials and errors they've faced being a new company on the block and trying to create a new culture and experience within the play party landscape, the risks that're involved and some considerations that are important for those who put on or attend events like these.
We talk hygiene, the ins and outs of actually running a sxx party, their goals and dreams for this fringe scene, and what you can generally expect if you give one of these parties a try!
