The Silmarillion: Ainulindalë

Gather with us in the common room of the mind for The Last Alliance: University of Alberta Tolkien Society Podcast. This isn't a formal lecture series, but a weekly, meandering conversation among friends and scholars who share a deep affinity for the legendarium of J.R.R. Tolkien. Each episode feels like pulling up a chair to a lively, often surprising discussion where the works are treated not as static texts, but as living sources of art, history, and philosophy. You'll hear us untangle the complex threads of Middle-earth's cultures, debate the moral weight of choices made by characters familiar and obscure, and explore the profound philosophical questions buried in a song, a sword, or a silmaril. We delve into the languages, the poetry, the unfinished tales, and the vast history that makes this world so endlessly compelling. This podcast, born from the community of the University of Alberta Tolkien Society, offers a space where academic insight and heartfelt fandom naturally blend. It's for anyone who has ever finished a book and immediately wanted to talk about it with someone who understands. Join our alliance for thoughtful, curious, and deeply informed conversations that go far beyond the surface of the map.
