From a viral song that took over the internet to the most in-demand music director in the country, Anirudh Ravichander's rise has been anything but ordinary. In this episode, Kakuzu, Rock Lee and Asuma break down the career of the man Tamil cinema calls its Rockstar.
We go back to where it all started with "Why This Kolaveri Di" and 3, trace how a young composer became the go-to name for Vijay, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Ajith, and look at how his sound took over pan-Indian cinema with his Bollywood entry in Jawan. Along the way we ask the bigger questions: What exactly is the Anirudh formula? Is his dominance good for Tamil film music, or is the industry leaning too hard on one sound? How much of a film's hype today comes from the album before the teaser even drops? And where does he stand in the lineage of Ilaiyaraaja, A.R. Rahman and Yuvan?
