Kneeling Before the Throne: Insights on Prayer from The Screwtape Letters. The whole Letter makes so many references to prayer, the need for it, and its efficacy, as well as how demonic forces attempt to discourage us from engaging in it.

We explored the demonic perspective on prayer, noting how they view it as humiliating that God would listen to "dirty animals on their knees." This reveals their disdain for human beings and their inability to comprehend God's love for His creation. The enemy (Jesus/God) will not be idle as whenever there is prayer there is a danger of his own (Jesus/God’s) immediate action. He is cynically indifferent to the dignity of his position and ours, as pure spirits, and to the humans on their knees, he pours out self-knowledge in a shameless fashion.

Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full” (John 16:23-24).

Our discussion led us to reflect on the importance of prayer in our lives, especially during challenging times. We drew parallels between our relationship with God and that of a parent and child, emphasizing how God desires for His children to approach Him with their needs and concerns.
