Author: The Ska Dads Podcast January 23, 2022 Duration: 1:10:41

Eddie Macintosh is a modern day renaissance man.   He chats with us about his music, art, and podcast on this episode.   Eddie played in a number of ska bands in his formative days including The Preschoolers and Checkered Cabs.  After playing in those bands he started two phenomenal rockabilly bands in the Baltimore area, The Boom Boom Cats and Garnet Hearts.   During the pandemic he has started a podcast and has released a number of solo tunes where you can find  links below.

There's a particular energy to ska and reggae that feels like a secret handshake, a shared rhythm that connects people across generations. The Ska Dads Podcast is born from that connection, hosted by a couple of fathers whose daily lives might involve school runs and packed lunches, but whose hearts beat in sync with the upstroke. This isn't a lecture series, but a conversation between friends who happen to have a deep, abiding passion for the sounds that shaped them. You'll hear them dig into the records that define the genres, from the foundational Jamaican studios to the two-tone explosion and its modern echoes. They explore the history behind the movements, the distinctive styles of fashion and attitude that came with them, and the stories of the musicians and producers who made it all happen. Each episode feels like hanging out in a basement lined with vinyl, where the talk is as much about the cultural impact and personal memories tied to a song as it is about the music itself. Tune into this podcast for a genuine, deep-dive celebration of the rhythms they love, all delivered with the warmth and insight of dads who know that a great track is a story waiting to be told. It's a specific corner of the music world, examined with care and enthusiasm.
