The Serpent In The Wood (Basque Folklore)

Gather around the hearth and listen closely. The Skald’s Circle: Stories of Myth, Folklore, and Legend is a living archive of spoken tradition, where ancient tales are given new breath. Each episode is a journey, pulling a different thread from the vast tapestry of global narrative-you might hear a haunting ballad from the Scottish Highlands one week, followed by a cunning trickster tale from West Africa the next. This isn't just a recitation; it's a performance honed at conventions and festivals, bringing the same immersive energy and respect for the source material directly into your ears. The stories are the heart of the podcast, but the context gives them soul. Weaving alongside the tales are insights into the cultures that birthed them, drawing from the creators' own weekly scholarly work. The result is a rich, layered experience that feels both like discovering a secret and coming home. It’s for anyone who senses the old magic lingering at the edge of modern life and wants to understand the human truths behind the legends. The Skald’s Circle extends this invitation not as broadcasters, but as fellow travelers keeping the flame of story alive, one carefully told tale at a time.
