2.06 Fish Out of Water

Set against the stark, uncertain backdrop of the year 2189, The Strange Case of Starship Iris picks up the pieces after humanity’s fragile victory in a devastating war with aliens. This audio drama from creator Jessica Best and the Procyon Podcast Network is less about the battles fought and more about the complicated peace that follows, where the lines between ally and enemy are dangerously blurred. Listeners are pulled into a narrative woven from deep-space survival and covert espionage, where every character carries the weight of secrets and the hope of connection. It’s a story where the struggle for identity and the forging of a found family are just as critical as outrunning political threats. The podcast balances high-stakes tension with genuine warmth, finding humor and romance in the cramped quarters of a spaceship on the run. Each episode builds a rich, character-driven world that belongs firmly in the realms of speculative fiction and performance art, using sound to explore profound questions of resistance and loyalty. You’ll hear a crew of survivors navigating a galaxy where trust is the rarest commodity and every alliance could be their last. The natural chemistry between the characters and the sharp, often witty dialogue ensure that the journey is as emotionally engaging as it is thrilling. Tune in for a serialized story that proves the aftermath can be just as strange and compelling as the war itself.
