Actor and former Division I basketball player Sinqua Walls joins The Underground Lounge for a wide-ranging conversation about basketball, acting, discipline, and his journey through Hollywood.
Sinqua talks about growing up playing basketball in Los Angeles, competing at the Division I level, and how his athlete mentality shaped the way he approaches acting. He opens up about his early auditions, booking roles on Friday Night Lights, Grey’s Anatomy and other projects, and the work ethic that helped him build a career in television and film.
The conversation also dives into White Men Can’t Jump, including working alongside Jack Harlow and preparing for the basketball scenes, as well as Sinqua’s experience portraying Don Cornelius in American Soul and the responsibility that came with playing such an important figure in Black television history.
