*Note: there was some static in the recording. After a few minutes it mostly fades away, but pops up occasionally in other parts. I put a filter on the audio to help ameliorate some of the effects.*

Today I’m launching a new series called “Manly Hall Mondays”, which I plan to make a weekly series on my podcast/Substack over the next year.  In each episode, I’ll do a reading of an article or book chapter (or occasionally a breakdown of a recorded lecture) drawn from Manly Hall’s momentous corpus of teachings.

This weekly series will be predominately hosted on my Substack (thewisdomtradition.substack.com) for paid subscribers ($7/mo), but one episode per month I will make available on my public-facing podcast.

In the first episode I read-through an article of Hall’s on the subject of astrology, titled The Star Lore of Babylon. It covers the essentials of the philosophy of astrology and also provides an excellent introduction to the topic of Astro-Theology, which posits that the great religious myths and legends of world history are all based on astrological symbolism.

In a world of quick takes and endless noise, The Wisdom Tradition | a philosophy podcast offers a different kind of space. Host Alexander Sachon guides conversations that treat philosophy not as a remote academic exercise, but as a living, breathing guide to human experience. This podcast explores how foundational ideas from across history directly shape our personal narratives, our societies, and the quiet questions we all carry. Each episode is a deep, accessible dive into concepts that have endured for centuries, examining their surprising relevance to modern life, ethics, and culture. You'll hear thoughtful discussions that connect the dots between ancient thinkers and contemporary dilemmas, between abstract theory and tangible reality. The aim is to make the wisdom of the tradition feel immediate and useful. By engaging with these enduring ideas, the podcast provides tools for reflection, challenging listeners to examine their own assumptions and the stories we tell collectively. It’s for anyone curious about how deeper thinking can illuminate the everyday, from the structure of our communities to the search for meaning in individual lives. Alexander brings a grounded, conversational approach to these substantial topics, making each exploration feel like a meaningful dialogue rather than a lecture. Tune in for a consistently thoughtful examination of where we’ve been, who we are, and how the great conversations of human thought continue to inform our path forward.
