Simcha Greiniman | 10/7 ZAKA Search & Rescue | Israel-Hamas War | Conversation with Shana Meyerson

Author: Shana Meyerson October 1, 2024 Duration: 1:50:17

Simcha Greiniman ( @zakasearchrescue1268 ) is a Commander and Veteran Volunteer with ZAKA Search & Rescue, an Israeli NGO with over 3000 international volunteers who swiftly respond to assist in humanitarian emergencies across the globe.

From natural disasters to terror attacks and other mass casualty events, the heroes of ZAKA have seen a lot...but nothing as horrifying and disturbing as what they witnessed in the days and weeks following the Hamas massacre of October 7, 2023.

Even the most stoic of rescue workers were profoundly traumatized and brought to their knees. Many are still working on recovering from the horrors that they saw.

In this LIVE conversation, Shana Meyerson of YOGAthletica and Simcha Greiniman discuss what might very well be the single toughest job on earth, recovering bodies--or what's left of them--after a catastrophic crisis, what happened on 10/7 and why the world needs to care.

If you are a yogi or yogini who doesn't understand the profound implications of Hamas's deliberate genocidal rampage against the Jews, you owe it to yourself to listen to this discussion about what Israel endured on the darkest day since the Holocaust and why it is so important that they ensure...never again is NOW.

Hosted by Shana Meyerson, The Yoga of War Podcast: Fighting for Israel & The Jewish People exists in the complex space where spiritual principle meets stark reality. This podcast explores the profound moral and ethical questions surrounding the Israel-Gaza War, specifically through a pro-Israel lens, while being grounded in the ancient philosophy of yoga. The central, challenging tension is between the yogic tenet of Ahimsa-non-violence-and the duty to defend one’s community as discussed in texts like the Bhagavad Gita. Each episode features conversations with a diverse range of voices, from activists and thinkers to community leaders, who share their insights and personal reckonings with this conflict. Listeners will hear nuanced discussions that don’t shy away from the tragedy of war but instead seek to understand the justification and heavy responsibility of a defensive fight. It’s a series for those grappling with how to hold space for peace and spiritual non-violence while confronting the necessity of standing for Israel and Jewish peoplehood in a time of crisis. The dialogue in this podcast is intentionally focused, offering perspective and depth on current events filtered through enduring principles of faith, politics, and human dignity.
