BONUS - Interview with the developers of Quartet (indie RPG)

Author: Third Impact Anime Podcast July 25, 2023 Duration: 1:34:09

Here's something a little different from us; a bonus episode! We haven't had a proper bonus episode since 2020, but we're back with another one. This time, Ryan sits down with three developers from Something Classic games, an indie game studio, to talk about their upcoming JRPG-inspired game Quartet! They chatted about how the team came to be, their history with JRPGs, the trials and tribulations of game development, how they feel about IHOP, and of course, we asked them about anime. Their answers might surprise you!

Thanks so much to Peter, Patrick, and Tyler for coming on the show. All music comes from the Quartet soundtrack.

Be sure and wish-list Quartet on Steam, download the demo (out now!), and buy it when it releases in Q1 2024. Also check out Something Classic's previous games Pillars of Dust and Shadows of Adam.

About Quartet: A series of unlikely train robberies. A mysterious deck of cards. A fleet of deadly airships. An accidental mage. Choose from four stories, in any order, and discover how they intertwine in this turn-based RPG.

Every other week, the conversation starts around a microphone with a group of longtime friends who have spent years hosting panels at anime conventions. Third Impact Anime Podcast is built from those late-night hotel lobby debates and packed conference room discussions, channeling that energy into a deep dive into the medium we love. This isn't just a review show; it's an exploration of the threads that connect classic series to today's trending hits, always with an eye on the artistic choices and cultural history that shape them. You'll hear us unpack new releases and revisit forgotten gems, share stories from the convention floor, and occasionally sit down with special guests from across the anime community. The result is a podcast that feels like hanging out with the most knowledgeable fans you know-the ones who can't help but talk a little too much about the details that make anime so compelling. Join us for a bi-weekly look at the artistry and passion that fuels this global phenomenon.
