I’ve learned over the past weeks to always have the audio recording setup ready when Dave and I chat. We always talk voip and have been trying different setups and applications. But inadvertantly, one of will say ‘we should be recording this’ and I flip the switch. This morning Dave was up early and we recorded a podcast, where we talked about ’leakage’, played some prince and finally got the sip-phone stuff working

There's a certain magic in hearing something from the very beginning, especially when that beginning helped define what we listen to today. Trade Secrets is exactly that-a preserved audio artifact from 2004 hosted by Dave Winer and Adam Curry, two pivotal figures who were there as the medium itself took shape. This isn't a retrospective or a commentary; it's the original files, presented again with permission, letting you experience the raw, exploratory conversations as they happened. Tuning into this podcast is like opening a time capsule from the early internet, where the topics naturally sprawl across technology, history, news, and politics through the lens of its creators' immediate interests and predictions. You'll hear the unpolished, genuine dialogue that captured a moment when the rules were still being written, offering a unique historical context for today's digital landscape. The feed serves as a direct archive, a primary source for anyone curious about the roots of podcasting culture and the ideas that circulated among its pioneers. It’s a fascinating listen, not just for the content discussed, but for feeling the texture and pace of a brand-new form of communication finding its voice.
