Toxic Positivity #046

Toxic Positivity #046

Author: Astrid Heystee February 12, 2025 Duration: 6:53

I want to share a little bit with you about toxic positivity. I actually mentioned this briefly in a different podcast episode, so I'll make sure that I will link to that one as well. If you haven't heard that one, I really invite you to listen to that one as well:Episode From Frustration to Freedom

I talked about the inner realms and how, um, How we feel, how happy we feel on the inside, that that reflects in our outer worlds, our external, yeah, external worlds, if you say. But I address toxic positivity there because toxic positivity is all about okay, I don't really feel very happy on the inside, but I'm just going to pretend that everything is okay.

I'm just going to be positive. I'm just gonna, you know, think positive and then everything will be okay. And sometimes this is a survival strategy that actually works. I mean, I'm not against it. Sometimes it works when you, when you feel crappy, but you're in a situation where it's better to put on a brave face and to kind of wish yourself out of a situation for a short, very short time, it can actually work.

I mean, call it, fake it until you make it. That's how my take on it. But having said that. If you really want to feel truly happy, if you want to really do something, if it's, if you really want to deal with that kind of topics and you're ready, you feel ready to look your stuff in the eye and to confront it.

Well, that's where shadow work comes in!

I am curious if you resonate with the topics that we are covering in this episode. If you want to give a should out, or ask a question, leave a voice note viahttps://www.speakpipe.com/palmtreemoments.
