TRUE HOUSE STORIES® W/ NORRIS DA BOSS WINDROOS # 131 INTERVIEWED BY LENNY FONTANA

True House Stories interviews UKG Godfather Norris Da Boss Windross. Norris opens up about his humble beginnings as a avid club goer and supporter of the scene in the 1980’s. He eventually found the art of the DJ later in life and began to play at smaller events and bars working his way up the ladder. It took for him to create his own club night for his career to really bloom in London, UK. His first event called ‘Yum Yum’ hosted by Norris, Tony Trax, Frankie Bones, Richie Fingers, Smokin Jo and MC GQ was the first taste in the creating a new Vibe & sound in the UK, pitching up US House and Garage records for more energy, this was not the norm until now. Norris presence and dedication saw him reside in the infancy of the UK Garage scene at iconic events such as; The Spread love Project, Bagleys, Ministry Of Sound, Aquarium and Mambo in Ibiza which led Norris ‘Da Boss’ to become a leading headline act, performing at tours and events worldwide. In 1994, production entered Norris’s ambition, since which he has been involved in a string of successful tracks, ‘Go Slowly’ his first studio remix, ‘Funky Groove’ ‘Psuedo’s Heartbeat’ with much respected Gavin Face Mills now one half of Copyright & then Right Before My Eyes & Liferide Produced with Grant Nelson followed by the successful launch of his own label ‘W Records, featuring acts such as Rose Windross, MC Creed, Angel 21 and MC Kie. All of his tracks exploded on the UK Garage Scene with ‘Right Before My Eyes’ featuring Kallaghan and MC Neat charting in the nationals and performance’s included ‘Top Of The Pops’. Liferide ‘NNG’ featuring Rose Windross & MC Creed was the follow up & one of the most iconic UKG hits to date. Seeing the impact of the newly founded UK House & Garage scene and proud of its growth and nationwide acceptance, the first UK House & Garage awards was created to acknowledge the industry. Norris was voted Industry ‘Top DJ’ at the awards. Norris, knew what had been achieved and felt the UK scene needed its own identity, so the new brand ‘UKG’ was conceived & created along with his partners, MC Creed & Jason Kaye. ‘UKG’ was quickly acknowledged by the industry and the award ceremonies at Hammersmith Apollo and the Brixton Academy crowned the new UK brand with 30 date national tours preceding them. There's a whole world of rhythm and soul behind the tracks that fill dancefloors, and True House Stories opens the door to it. Hosted by the respected DJ and producer Lenny Fontana, this isn't just a series of conversations; it's an oral history project for a genre built on feeling. Each episode sits down with a different architect of the sound-DJs, producers, vocalists, and label founders-to pull back the curtain on the moments that shaped everything. You'll hear the unvarnished, sometimes messy, reality of how classic records came to be, the late-night studio sessions that turned into anthems, and the personal journeys intertwined with the music's evolution. Fontana, speaking from a lifetime inside the scene, guides these discussions with a genuine curiosity, ensuring the stories remain candid and often surprising. Tuning into this podcast feels like finding a lost archive of club culture, where every interview adds another essential layer to our understanding of house music's enduring pulse. It’s for anyone who has ever felt a four-on-the-floor beat and wondered about the people and passion that put it there.
