Step into the faded, creaking world of Unwell, a Midwestern Gothic Mystery, an immersive audio drama crafted by Audacious Machine Creative. This series follows Lillian Harper’s reluctant return to the forgotten town of Mt. Absalom, Ohio, a place where the past is never truly buried. Her purpose is to care for Dorothy, her injured and estranged mother, but homecoming means moving into the family’s ancient boarding house, a building steeped in generations of whispered history. Within its walls, Lillian finds more than peeling wallpaper and dusty heirlooms; she encounters a peculiar collection of residents who form an unexpected, if odd, community. But the house and the quiet town guard deep secrets. As Lillian settles in, the ordinary Midwestern calm begins to fracture, revealing unsettling conspiracies and lingering phantoms that blur the line between the living and the dead. Each episode of this fictional drama layers character-driven storytelling with an atmosphere of slow-burning dread, exploring the ties that bind families together and the ghosts-both literal and figurative-that keep them haunted. Listeners become residents of Mt. Absalom, piecing together clues alongside Lillian, where every conversation in the parlor and every strange noise in the attic might unravel another thread of the mystery. It’s a podcast built on quiet tension, the weight of legacy, and the question of what we inherit from the places we call home.
