USC Athletics Ranked 22nd Despite Strong Programs | USC Trojans Basketball News

USC’s athletic department, once a powerhouse, dropped to 22nd overall in CBS Sports’ latest ranking — a surprise given their legacy. Texas soared to No. 1 thanks to women’s basketball’s Final Four run and softball’s national title. USC’s football team had a solid nine-win season but missed the playoff again, while men’s basketball hit a rough patch, losing eight straight and missing the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year. Still, the women’s basketball team, down star JuJu Watkins, earned a 9-seed and won a game. Baseball nearly made it to the College World Series, falling in a heartbreaker. Volleyball teams also shined — women reached the second round, men the regional final. Despite the overall dip, USC’s athletic spirit remains fiercely competitive across the board.
