University of Victorias Ginger Run Moves Off Campus: A Lighthearted Event Facing Challenges

The University of Victorias popular Ginger Run, a fun dash celebrating red-haired students and their friends, is moving off campus for its third edition. Originally held on the schools main quad, its shifting to Cadboro Bay due to university approval issues. Business student Ben Longo, who isnt red-haired himself, stepped up to organize the event. He built hype on Instagram but faced a challenge when the school required two million dollars in liability insurance due to expected crowds. The event, which has spread to other Canadian and U.S. campuses, is open to everyone, ginger or not, to celebrate a group often teased. The group meets at Cadboro-Gyro Park at 4 PM Tuesday, with the run kicking off at 4:30 PM. Longo plans to apply way ahead next year to bring it back to campus.
