Spudders Fall Short in State Tournament
Ridgefields girls basketball team, the Spudders, faced a tough loss in the opening round of the two-A state tournament against Fife. Despite a strong season turnaround, winning eight of their last nine games, the Spudders couldnt hold off the Trojans in the fourth quarter. Fife, with Olivia Bordens eleven points in the final quarter, secured their first state tournament victory since nineteen ninety-three. Coach Lauren Hefflin praised the Spudders effort and leadership, particularly from seniors Sava Chanda and Allie Doman. Both teams struggled offensively, with forty-four combined free throws. The Spudders season ended, but they marked their first appearance at state since two thousand nine.
