Bajo Presión

There's a particular texture to the air and light in Paraguay, a feeling that Viaje al Interior translates into sound. This isn't a traditional interview podcast but a deep, immersive auditory experience crafted by harpist and composer Juanjo Corbalán. Each episode unfolds as a chapter of a larger sonic narrative, where Corbalán's original compositions, rooted in the Paraguayan harp tradition, are reimagined through the lens of a contemporary quartet. You'll hear the rich interplay of Lara Barrero's expressive saxophone and voice, the nuanced rhythms from Sebastián Ramírez on drums, and the harmonic foundations laid by Víctor Álvarez on piano and vocals. Recorded in Asunción, the music carries the atmosphere of its origin, painting an acoustic portrait of a landscape and its interior life. Tuning into this podcast is less about listening to songs and more about being transported; the arrangements guide you through emotional contours and cultural echoes that are both intimate and expansive. It’s a rare opportunity to have a full album presented in this episodic, focused format, allowing each piece the space to breathe and resonate. For anyone curious about the modern currents of Latin American music or simply in search of a thoughtful, beautifully recorded musical journey, this series offers a compelling destination.
