SEGA May Do Their Own Gaming Subscription Service, Nintendo's 2024 in Review # 427

SEGA May Do Their Own Gaming Subscription Service, Nintendo's 2024 in Review # 427

Author: Sean Garmer December 24, 2024 Duration: 1:27:50
Welcome to our last regular episode of 2024, as we are so close to another year ending and 2025 beginning. Speaking of that, Nintendo looks to start 2025 on an amazing high note by finally announcing the long-awaited Switch successor. However, before we get to that, Sean and Marc go through Nintendo's 2024 and what is there to make of what feels like a whole year of waiting for information on hardware. What were the stand out games? Are any of them up for Game of the Year? And what are the latest rumors about the Switch 2?

Also, SEGA had one heck of a 2024 themselves and they capped it off with a very successful Sonic 3 Movie as well. But what about the future? Could a SEGA subscription service be on the cards? Rumors indicate it could very well be in the plans. Should it be something akin to Xbox Game Pass? Or more like PlayStation Plus? Or maybe EA Play? Should this even happen at all?

Plus, some news regarding games shown at the Game Awards, Marc has played more Infinity Nikki, Xbox won't have any more exclusives, Sony buys more of Kadokawa, and more!

Each week on Video Games 2 the MAX, Sean Garmer brings his perspective as a longtime veteran of games journalism to the table. He’s often joined by semi-regular co-host and seasoned reviewer Marc Morrison, or sometimes a guest, for conversations that dig into the entire world of interactive entertainment. The discussion naturally flows from the games they’re currently playing and reviewing into the biggest news stories shaping the industry. Every episode also carves out space for a deeper dive on a special topic, giving the analysis room to breathe beyond just the headlines. Given that games don't exist in a vacuum, the dialogue occasionally branches into related films and television shows, all filtered through a gamer's lens. This isn't a rushed recap; it's a considered chat between knowledgeable voices who have been around the block. The result is a podcast that feels like sitting in on a conversation between friends who just happen to have a wealth of experience. You’ll hear genuine opinions, informed debates, and the kind of context that only comes from years of paying close attention. Whether it's a blockbuster release or a niche indie title, the focus remains on thoughtful commentary over simple hype. Tune in for a comprehensive, yet personal, take on everything happening in gaming and the pop culture that intersects with it.
