Big Drum-Arthur Wing Pinero

Set sail for the forgotten docks of Wappin Wharf, where the rum is cheap but the adventures are anything but straightforward. Penned by Charles S. Brooks, this audio tale begins with all the promise of a classic pirate yarn-stormy seas, creaking ships, and the call of buried treasure. The reality, however, is far funnier and more frightful. We discover a crew of long-retired buccaneers, thoroughly settled into a life of landlubber comforts, their greatest daily peril now being a stubborn jar of pickles or an overly creaky rocking chair. Their mischievous spirit, however, hasn't faded with time; it's merely been bottled up, waiting for the right catalyst to explode into chaos. Each episode of this podcast pulls you into the absurd dilemmas and surprisingly dramatic schemes that erupt when old pirates refuse to fade away. You'll hear the clash of rusty cutlasses, the grumbling of stomachs more used to tea than grog, and the panicked whispers that accompany their ill-advised plans. It's a unique blend of character-driven comedy and gentle drama, a fictional world where the greatest treasure might just be finding a purpose after your prime. Tune in to follow this peculiar crew as they navigate the treacherous waters of retirement, proving that even on dry land, trouble has a way of washing ashore.
