342. Cryptid Kids #6: In a Pinch

Author: Eric O'Keeffe / Starglow Media January 27, 2025 Duration: 24:28
The Million-Hand-Headed-Hydra is pinching away the Observatorium, and even parts of What If World. It's time for the Cryptid Kids to call in some backup! Lessons include: failure is part of every big challenge; mistakes provide information that can lead us to new ideas. This story is part of a Guilds & Goblins campaign, where What If World characters (and guests) play an original tabletop RPG for kids and families. Real-life dice rolls, usually with a 20-sided die (or d20), help us tell the story, along with your questions! Start with episodes 327, 328, 330, 331, & 341, Cryptid Kids #1 to #5, if you’ve never heard a G&G story.   Here are our four favorite would-you-rather questions. Ask your players these questions before playing G&G, and you’ll know what surprises will please them. For younger kids, ask one question per game. For older kids, ask follow-up questions to help you generate ideas! After every four or five games, ask again and customize the questions or change their order to suit your players better. Would you rather: Explore strange places or meet funny characters? Find a rare treasure or learn a new power? Solve tricky puzzles or face spooky creatures? Train your sidekick or build an invention? Curiosity begins with a simple question, and What If World-Stories for Kids turns those questions into delightful, original adventures. Hosted by Mr. Eric, this podcast spins the wild and wonderful "what if" ideas sent in by young listeners into full-length audio stories. Each episode is a journey into a uniquely crafted universe where anything is possible, blending gentle comedy with heartfelt moments that families can enjoy together. The magic lies in its collaborative spirit-the stories are directly inspired by the imaginative queries of children, making every narrative a surprise. Parents and caregivers are invited to submit their own child's puzzling or playful scenario, which might just become the spark for the next tale. Through these engaging fictions, the show naturally encourages creative thinking and a resilient, problem-solving spirit. Tuning in means entering a space where a question about dinosaurs eating pizza or a cloud made of jelly can unfold into a memorable, character-driven plot. It’s more than just a story time podcast; it’s an interactive celebration of a child’s perspective, lovingly produced by Eric O'Keeffe and Starglow Media. The result is a consistently charming and funny listen that respects the intelligence and wonder of its young audience, one "what if" at a time.
