135: Mercury: the hidden toxin

135: Mercury: the hidden toxin

Author: Heartcast Media June 1, 2018 Duration: 28:25
Mercury is considered by the World Health Organization as one of the top ten chemicals of major public health concern. Why? Because mercury is a poison, more toxic than lead or arsenic. And it is the hidden toxin behind a lot of common health concerns—it attacks the central nervous system and can lead to chronic conditions like Alzheimers and Parkinsons, as well as ADD, brain fog, mental illness, and more. This episode focuses on how we are exposed to it—through environmental pollutants, food sources, dental amalgam fillings, preventive medical practices, and more—and what we can do about it. Sally Fallon Morell, the head of the Weston A. Price Foundation walks us through important articles on the subject in our latest Wise Traditions journal, including one written by Robert F. Kennedy Junior. This conversation covers the problem mercury poses and reveals protocols for minimizing exposure and removing it from our bodies. Produced by Heartcast Media, Wise Traditions is a conversation about health that begins with a simple, radical idea: our ancestors might have known better. This podcast explores the foundations of well-being found in time-honored practices, traditional diets, and holistic living, moving beyond the confines of modern, engineered solutions. Each episode delves into practical and philosophical discussions on how to apply this ancestral wisdom to contemporary life, covering topics from nutrition and fitness to broader lifestyle choices that align with nature's rhythms. The dialogue is built on the premise that true vitality comes not from dominating the natural world, but from understanding and cooperating with it, a concept famously echoed by Dr. Weston A. Price. You'll hear from a variety of voices-practitioners, researchers, and everyday people-who are integrating these principles to cultivate resilience and health. It’s for anyone feeling disconnected from simplistic health trends and seeking a deeper, more rooted path to wellness. Tune in for thoughtful, often challenging conversations that reconnect the dots between what we’ve forgotten and how we can truly thrive.
